Gohar Barseghyan, the Eurasian Economic Commission's minister for industry and the agro-industrial complex, highlighted the steady growth of the EAEU agro-industrial sector during her address at the roundtable titled "Cooperation in the EAEU as the Path to the Efficient Development of the Agricultural Sector". The event is part of EEF 2025, held in Minsk on June 26.
Barseghyan stated that since the establishment of the integration bloc, agricultural output has increased by 25%, trade turnover has grown 1.8 times, and external exports have more than doubled. At the same time, there is potential for further development of the agricultural sector, linked to the possibility of financial support for cooperative projects through the EAEU budget.
"Cooperation is essentially becoming a strategic tool to reliably ensure food security for the citizens of the Eurasian Five and to reduce our dependence on external market fluctuations", she said.
The roundtable explored promising avenues and projects for advancing cooperation, including those utilizing financial support mechanisms, and reviewed experiences in interstate collaboration. Participants underscored the need for more in-depth dialogue among government agencies, entrepreneurs, and financial institutions.
Industry cooperation mechanisms were discussed a day earlier on the sidelines of EEF 2025 during the 26th meeting of the EAEU Business Council Presidium.
The roundtable brought together representatives of government agencies, businesses, and academic communities from EAEU member states, other countries, and international organizations. The session was moderated by Roman Brodov, first deputy chairman of the Management Board at Belarus' Development Bank.
