Temirbek Asanbekov: "The role of logistics has increased many-fold today"

Sector-specific issues of the Eurasian Economic Union’s transport industry were discussed by participants of the relevant advisory committee chaired by Temirbek Asanbekov, Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission. They considered key objectives and guidelines for the short-term, as well as draft documents prepared by the EEC jointly with the EAEU countries.

"Given the current situation, the role and importance of transport and logistics increase many-fold", Temirbek Asanbekov, Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission, noted opening the event.

The meeting attendees supported the proposal to create a temporary Working Group on developing proposals for implementing measures to improve the EAEU countries’ economic stability in the field of transport and infrastructure. Therefore, it is planned to implement relevant disposition of the EEC Council dated March 17. The Working Group will be composed of the countries’ representatives at the level not lower than the heads of structural subdivisions of the EAEU countries’ interested public authorities.

The Commission’s representatives informed on preparing the Eurasian Economic Forum scheduled for May this year in the Kyrgyz Republic. It is expected that the 6th meeting of the Council of Heads of Authorized Bodies in the Field of Transport of the EAEU Member States will be held within the Forum’s program. The Commission’s proposal was supported to address the issue of adopting final resolution of the Forum’s panel session by the Council of Heads. The document proposes to reflect key objectives and priorities for developing the Euro-Asian transport links and mobility.

In this regard, it is planned to consider draft resolution and discuss possible proposals on the document wording, the panel session format, speakers and subject-matters of their reports.

The sides discussed a number of measures of the roadmap for implementing the Main directions of implementing the EAEU States’ coordinated transport policy for 2021-2023. This includes the draft analytical report on the EAEU Member States’ regulatory legal acts regulating the use of electronic documents in transporting goods by road in international traffic. This document is required for debottlenecking in transportation and fulfilling the transport potential of the Eurasian "five" countries. Besides, the Commission works on draft recommendations for developing transport and logistics centres within the EAEU. The final stage will include elaborating recommendations on common approaches to the Union’s digital logistics.
