One of the key topics of the second Eurasian Economic Forum to be held on 24–25 May in Moscow will be the discussion of the future EAEU 2030+ Strategy, said Andrey Slepnev, Minister of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission. The operator of the event is the Roscongress Foundation.
“We are passing an important historical milestone. global transformation is taking place. We need to navigate through this new structure and to understand Eurasia’s place in it. In addition to our Eurasian Five, the Forum will be attended by a significant number of guests from the CIS and other partner countries. One of the key topics will be the discussion of the future strategy at a session with the prime ministers of the Union countries,” said Andrei Slepnev at a press conference in Moscow.
The EAEF 2023 will include about 35 business sessions, which will be divided into seven thematic tracks: Human Capital, Technology and Cooperation, The EAEU in a Changing World, Eurasian Collectiveness, as well as The EAEU Internal Market: Cooperation in Customs, Competition, and State Procurement, the strategic section, and the EAEU Business Council track.
According to Andrey Slepnev, apart from strategic topics, the Forum will also discuss specific areas of cooperation between the states of the Union: issues of artificial intelligence, the launch of the new format ‘Eurasia of Regions’ on the inter-regional agenda, issues of electronic trade, labour productivity, digital settlements, international digital units, and Eurasian tourism clusters.
In addition, experts will also discuss aspects of the EAEU’s cooperation with other countries and associations at the sessions ‘EAEU–SCO–BRICS: Open Integration Dialogue’ and ‘EAEU – Latin America’. Several events at the Forum will focus on developing cooperation with Indonesia, the EAEF’s guest country in 2023. The Forum will bring together heads of various ministries and agencies from Indonesia as well as representatives of local companies, who will take part in a business breakfast, the EAEU–Indonesia Business Dialogue, as well as in presentations of initiatives and B2B meetings.
“We appreciate the prospects of interaction with Indonesia. Our business is very interested in this country: Indonesia has one of the highest growth rates in Southeast Asia. It is developing industry, agriculture and infrastructure. These are the areas where we can actively cooperate,” said Andrey Slepnev.
In addition, the EAEF will announce the results of the first Green Eurasia climate project competition, which aims to find effective practices for adaptation and mitigation of climate change, as well as other climate practices aimed at sustainable development of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union. Around 300 applications were submitted for the competition, including applications from non-post-Soviet countries. Participants include representatives of state authorities and local self-government bodies, the business community, non-profit organizations, as well as individuals.
The second Eurasian Economic Forum will be held as part of the Russian Federation’s presidency of the EAEU bodies in 2023. The aim of the Forum is to improve cooperative ties in the Eurasian space. The event will be held under the theme ‘Eurasian Integration in a Multipolar World’.
