Arrival in Astana
The issuance of entry visas to the Republic of Kazakhstan (where applicable) remains the responsibility of each participant. Participants are advised to review the current visa requirements and visa processing timelines in advance.
Entry visas must be obtained prior to arrival in Kazakhstan. Information on visa application procedures and the list of required documents is available on the official websites of the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the participants' countries of residence, as well as on the official visa and migration portal.
Information on the visa regime of the Republic of Kazakhstan for foreign nationals is available on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.
Upon request, the Forum organizers and the host party may facilitate visa support for participants. Visa-related inquiries may be directed to the Forum Information Centre at info@eaeunionforum.kz.
Upon entry into Kazakhstan, foreign nationals are required to carry:
- a valid travel document recognized for international travel, with a validity period of at least three months beyond the intended date of departure from the Republic of Kazakhstan, without any extension stamps, and containing at least two blank pages designated for visas (if applicable);
- a visa (if required).
Astana International Airport (NQZ) is the city's only airport serving scheduled domestic and international flights. Up-to-date information is available on the airport's official website, as well as through airline offices and websites.
The airport has convenient transport links to the city and is located 16 km southeast of Astana's business district and 10 km from the EEF venue.
EEF participants may use taxi services, public transportation, and ride-hailing applications to travel to the Forum venue and hotels. Regular city bus routes operate from the airport and provide connections to the city's main districts. Information on public transportation routes, schedules, and fares is available on the official Astana public transport website.
Taxi stands are located directly outside the airport arrivals area. Participants are advised to use official taxi services or ride-hailing applications (such as Yandex Go, inDrive, and others).
The airport is equipped with the necessary infrastructure for persons with disabilities. If required, participants may request assistance services in advance through their airline or the airport service desk.
For city navigation, participants may use the widely used 2GIS application or other navigation applications.
EEF participants arriving at the airport may obtain their badges and receive consultation and assistance related to participation at the accreditation area located in the international terminal.
Astana is located in the UTC+5 time zone (Astana time and Kazakhstan time).
The tenge is the national currency of Kazakhstan.
For cashless payments, standard Visa, Mastercard, and UnionPay cards may be used. The use of Mir payment system cards in Kazakhstan is extremely limited and may be unstable.
Foreign currency may be exchanged at banks, official exchange offices, and at Astana International Airport. ATMs and bank branches are widely available at the airport, hotels, shopping centres, and other public locations throughout the city. Currency exchange requires a valid identity document (for foreign nationals – an international passport).
