A session titled, "Sustainable Transport in the Eurasian Region: Mobility, Multimodality and Digitalization", focused on the impact of integration in the transport sector on efforts to ensure sustainable development across Eurasia. The event took place as part of the 4th Eurasian Economic Forum in Minsk.
"Transport and infrastructure must be accessible to all segments of the population—including residents of remote areas—at fair prices", said Arzybek Kozhoshev, minister for energy and infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
Speakers explored the advancement of digital technology, infrastructure, international transport corridors, as well as container and multimodal transportation. The session also addressed issues related to improving energy efficiency, reducing environmental pollution, and alleviating transport congestion.
"The EAEU is moving steadily and dynamically toward implementing the principles of sustainable transport", Minister Kozhoshev said. "The focus is on enhancing the efficiency of the Union's transit potential, developing intelligent transport systems, and modernizing infrastructure."
The discussion brought together representatives from government bodies, the business community, and international organizations. Speakers included leaders from Armenia's Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Belarus' Ministry of Transport and Communications, Kazakhstan's Ministry of Transport, Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Transport and Communications, Russia's Ministry of Transport, the Executive Committee of the CIS Coordinating Transport Meeting, and representatives from Iran.
