At the V Eurasian Economic Forum in Astana, participants discussed the challenges and prospects for the further development of the common labour market within the EAEU.
The key topic of the session focused on the use of digital tools in the development of the labour market. During the discussions, particular attention was paid to the need to transform the system of interaction between employees, employers and the state, especially amid increasing labour mobility, the expansion of platform employment and remote working formats.
“The priority is to build such interaction between business, the state and workers that allows them to receive services, exercise their rights and fulfil their obligations in a convenient, efficient and, most importantly, proactive digital format,” said Bakhyt Sultanov, Minister for Economy and Financial Policy of the EEC.
At the same time, participants in the discussion highlighted the importance of maintaining a balance in the development of cross-border paperless information exchange: digital services should simplify administrative procedures for people while at the same time remaining a tool that helps the state ensure security and public order.
Heads of labour and health ministries from the EAEU member states, as well as representatives of the International Organization for Migration and the International Labour Organization, shared their experience in developing digital tools. A representative of the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development presented preliminary results of a study on labour markets in the EAEU countries.
Representatives of Cuba, Iran, Azerbaijan, Turkey and a number of other states also took part in the session.
