On 28 May 2026, as part of the Fifth Eurasian Economic Forum in Astana, the Internal Markets, Informatization, and ICT unit of the Eurasian Economic Commission will hold a strategic session titled “Emerging Trends in the Digital Ecosystem for a Seamless EAEU Internal Market.”
The central theme of the session will be the creation of a DIGITAL UNION – a unified digital space designed to enable the seamless flow of goods, services, capital, and labor across the Union.
A key question on the agenda is how to move from fragmented, isolated solutions to the integration of national digital systems – through mutual recognition of electronic signatures, secure data exchange, and intelligent services – while preserving the digital sovereignty of member states.
During the open discussion, participants will explore national digitalization and AI strategies, their potential interoperability across the Union, as well as the actual accessibility of government information systems for businesses from other EAEU countries and the reasons behind persistent “digital barriers.”
Particular attention will be given to the practical aspects of interaction among national information systems, including whether mutual access is currently ensured for economic operators from other member states and what measures are needed to overcome existing obstacles.
The session will serve as a key platform for dialogue among stakeholders directly affected by digital barriers within the Union. It is expected to result in a set of priority initiatives aimed at moving from concept to a truly seamless internal market across the EAEU.
