The potential of digital modernisation of the agricultural sector of the Eurasian Economic Union member states to ensure the traceability of agricultural products, as well as digital initiatives by government authorities and the business community aimed at improving production efficiency and developing agricultural trade, was discussed at the V Eurasian Economic Forum on 28 May in Astana.
“Digitalisation is already shaping the sustainable development of agriculture in the Union states and transforming mutual trade in agricultural products,” noted Goar Barsegyan, Minister in charge of Industry and Agro-Industrial Complex of the Eurasian Economic Commission, at the EEF-2026 panel session “Digital Modernisation of the EAEU Common Agricultural Market: From Traceability to Trade Instruments.”
Particular attention during the event was paid to the use of paperless warehouse certificates as a tool for simplifying trade and attracting financial resources to the agricultural sector.
Deputy heads of agricultural authorities from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia, as well as from Uzbekistan — an observer state to the Union — presented the development of national government digital platforms that contribute to the efficient operation of the agro-industrial complex and ensure product traceability.
Berik Aryn, Director General of the Islamic Organisation for Food Security, spoke about digital solutions for ensuring global food security, while representatives of the business community shared their experience in implementing digital solutions in business.
“The Commission is open to proposals for scaling up national experience in the digitalisation of the agricultural market and will consider the digital solutions presented at the session on the Commission’s platform with the participation of the parties,” Goar Barsegyan concluded.
