Digitalization, Competition and Access to EAEU Markets

Digitalization, Competition and Access to EAEU Markets
    31.03.2026

Chairman of the EEC Council, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin met with Member of the Board – Minister for Competition and Antimonopoly Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission Maksim Yermolovich.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues regarding cooperation in the field of competition and antimonopoly regulation. Approaches to developing cooperation between the relevant authorities were considered, including building systematic interaction, exchanging experience and best practices.

“Digitalization of public procurement, development of competition, and ensuring equal access to the EAEU markets remain the key areas of our cooperation. It is important to build systematic work aimed at eliminating barriers and expanding opportunities for business,” Serik Zhumangarin noted.

Special attention was paid to expanding mutual supplies of goods within the framework of public procurement, as well as working out approaches to ensure access of products from EAEU member states to the markets of the Union countries. The importance of further improving interaction mechanisms in these areas was emphasized.

The parties also exchanged views on the preparation and holding of events within the competition and antimonopoly regulation block as part of the upcoming 5th Eurasian Economic Forum. In particular, thematic sessions dedicated to the digitalization of public procurement and the use of modern tools in competition policy, including artificial intelligence technologies, were discussed.

“The Eurasian Economic Forum is a unique platform. It is important to expand its format, invite colleagues from international organizations, BRICS, OECD and others to form a broader thematic section. Every year Kazakhstan hosts the Eurasian Antimonopoly Forum and runs educational programs on competition law. We have built a systematic work on professional development, and we are open to cooperation, exchange of experience and information,” the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to further strengthen cooperation, including data exchange, expert interaction, and development of human resources potential.
