A signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the United Nations took place on the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Forum. The document is intended to serve as a foundation for systematic cooperation and mutual understanding between the two organisations.
The MoU was signed on behalf of the EEC by Bakhyt Sultanov, Minister for Economy and Financial Policy. Representing the UN at the ceremony was Anna Joubin-Bret, Secretary of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL).
The Memorandum will streamline interaction between the parties in the preparation and adoption of EAEU governing body acts in the area of trade law, drawing on UNCITRAL's leading documents and standards. The agreement is also aimed at ensuring the effective application and implementation of these norms within the Union.
"Formalising our relationship with the United Nations will give a powerful impetus to the expert and analytical support of regional integration processes within the Eurasian Economic Union. We hope this will strengthen the Commission's global standing, reinforce its authority, and elevate its institutional profile on the international stage," said Bakhyt Sultanov.
