On 28 May in Astana, as part of the V Eurasian Economic Forum, Daniyar Imanaliyev, Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), moderated the panel session titled “Application of Modern Digital Technologies in the Activities of Statistical Authorities.”
The session reviewed the experience of statistical offices and national (central) banks in digital transformation, the application of artificial intelligence, as well as plans for the further development of statistics.
“Technologies ensure the prompt provision of detailed information, improve the quality and timeliness of statistical publications, and help strengthen trust in official statistics,” noted the EEC Minister. “Our common objective is to preserve the reliability of official statistical information while simultaneously introducing modern digital technologies.”
Participants agreed on the need for the joint promotion and implementation of innovative digital solutions, the transformation of processes for the collection, processing, analysis and dissemination of official statistical information, the introduction of international standards for the exchange of statistical information, and the enhancement of professional competencies.
Speakers at the session included representatives of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia, the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation, the Bank of Russia, the United Nations Statistics Division, the CIS Statistical Committee, and the Institute for Research on Socio-Economic Transformations and Financial Policy of the Financial University.
