On June 26, the 4th Eurasian Economic Forum will feature a roundtable titled, Public Procurement in the EAEU: Reality, Possibilities and Prospects. The event will take the form of a session organized by the EEC competition and antitrust regulation unit and will be held from 10:50 AM to 12:20 PM in Hall 2 on Level 1.
The meeting will be attended by EEC Competition and Antitrust Regulation Minister Maksim Ermolovich. Invited speakers include the heads of government agencies responsible for procurement, trade, and industry; business leaders; and representatives from digital platforms in EAEU member countries.
The roundtable will discuss:
- Realities and strategies for protecting domestic production, localization, and policies on exemptions from the national treatment regime;
- Opportunities created by Eurasian cooperation for businesses within the EAEU;
- Prospects for eliminating digital inequality in procurement, and the current state and future of digital procurement in EAEU member states.
Today, approaches to public procurement are increasingly converging across the Eurasian region, aiming to eliminate challenges and hurdles to the reciprocal participation of Eurasian goods and suppliers in government procurement.
Given the evolving economic landscape and a steadfast commitment to supporting domestic producers, it is essential to ensure an adequate and effective level of transparency. This not only fosters a favorable procurement environment for businesses and governments across all EAEU member states but also facilitates the development of joint solutions that promote reciprocal government procurement growth and advance Eurasian integration as a whole.
The event will be moderated by Zhanar Adikova, director of the EEC Department for Competition and Public Procurement Policy.
