The development of the Eurasian Economic Union in the long-term perspective will be discussed by the participants of the second Eurasian Economic Forum to be held in Moscow on 24–25 May. The session ‘Priorities for EAEU 2030+’ will bring together Deputy Prime Ministers of the Union’s member countries and experts to exchange views on the main vectors of integration cooperation and propose specific steps to ensure the EAEU’s development goals. On 23 January 2023, the Chairman of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, in an address to the heads of state of the Eurasian Economic Union, proposed to assess the implementation of the current Strategic Development Guidelines for Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025. He also called it advisable to begin preparing new long-term planning documents this year that would define the main vectors of integration cooperation until 2030 and 2045.
“In the Eurasian Economic Union, we have created an effective and efficient integration model; the Union is one of the independent poles in a multipolar world order. Today we can say that any tasks we set can be implemented. At the Eurasian Economic Forum, we will discuss what key long-term goal we are striving for and how to ensure economic growth and improve the well-being of the citizens of our countries,” noted Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
During the discussion, experts will also discuss new directions for the EAEU’s strategic development, projects that can increase the share of high-tech exports and the creation of trans-Eurasian corporations, and other topics.
The session is expected to be attended by Alexey Overchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation; Igor Petrishenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus; Adylbek Kasymaliyev, First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic; Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission; Sergei Glazyev, Member of the Board – Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission; and Tigran Sarkisyan, Vice Chairman of the Management Board of the Eurasian Development Bank. The session will be moderated by Andrey Slepnev, Member of the Board (Minister) for Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
The second Eurasian Economic Forum is being held as part of the Russian Federation’s presidency of the EAEU bodies. The aim of the Forum is to improve cooperative ties in the Eurasian space. EAEF 2023 events will be held under the motto ‘Eurasian Integration in a Multipolar World’. The Forum programme includes some 35 sessions, which will be divided into seven thematic tracks. Among them are ‘Human Capital’, ‘Technology and Cooperation’, ‘The EAEU in a Changing World’, ‘Eurasian Collectiveness’, and ‘The EAEU Internal Market: Cooperation in Customs, Competition, and State Procurement’.
In addition, the Eurasian Economic Forum will host Green Eurasia Competition, ASI Business Breakfast to discuss new opportunities for international cooperation in Eurasia, and a Business Breakfast of the EAEU–Indonesia Business Dialogue. There will also be business dialogues dedicated to cooperation of the Eurasian integration format with Indonesia and Latin American countries.
