On 28 May, on the sidelines of the Fifth Eurasian Economic Forum in Astana, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Bakytzhan Sagintayev and Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Sergey Lebedev signed the Action Plan for 2026–2030 to implement the Memorandum on Enhanced Cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
“Dialogue between integration associations amid global changes in the architecture of the world economy is becoming an important development trend. Our common objective is to promote the creation of a space for mutually beneficial cooperation by aligning the capacities of states and existing integration frameworks,” Bakytzhan Sagintayev noted.
The document establishes a framework for implementing joint projects and holding thematic events. Particular attention in the Plan is devoted to the development of trade, cooperation in the fields of industry, transport, energy, customs cooperation, technical regulation, as well as sanitary, veterinary and phytosanitary measures.
Implementation of the Plan will help intensify trade and economic dialogue between the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union and the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States that are not members of the EAEU, as well as facilitate the exchange of experience between the EEC and CIS bodies in key areas of activity.
The Memorandum on Enhanced Cooperation between the EEC and the CIS Executive Committee was signed on 27 November 2018.
